Great portraits. Did you use photographs for each of them? If so, how did you go about resizing them to your actual portrait size. That is what I am trying to do and tried using a grid using an A4 copy in either color or black and white but am not happy with the results. Thanks Nan Holzberger email: nanholz@westnet.com.au
Great to view your amazing work… Look forward to seeing your work on the street where these artists lived and played…. Great for the kids to see there more to life with living artists changing those horrid walls of FLATS… look forward to seeing more…
Drawing and painting jazz musicians has been part of my artwork output for some while now. I introduce colour within some of the works and try to maintain a good likeness, which to me, is basic to a good portrait. When doing this I only use black and white reference so as not to be influenced by coloured photo's I do however, keep coming back in the direction of realism. Sometimes I don't know which way the work will progress. I also love executing portraits in pencil which I consider a good test of artistic skills and drawing accuracy.Pencil drawings can take longer to complete than some of the paintings.
